What the people of Wilmington NC say...
Moving help in Wilmington
From Downtown and the Historic District to Mayfaire and Riverlights, plus fast-growing Ogden and out to Wrightsville Beach and Leland on the metro edge, we cover Wilmington's walk-ups, beach condos, townhomes, and single-family homes. You rent the truck or container, we bring the labor by the hour.

Loading & unloading
You drive the truck, we handle the muscle. Our Wilmington loading and unloading crews work rental trucks, PODS, U-Box containers, and trailers across the Cape Fear region. Whether it's a Mayfaire townhome or a new build out in Ogden, we pack it tight, stack it smart, and unload faster than you'd do it yourself. $50 per mover per hour. No upcharge for stairs, elevators, or weekends.

Apartment movers
Wilmington runs heavy on walk-ups, beach condos, and mid-rise rentals. We've worked the buildings in Downtown, Mayfaire, and the UNCW corridor enough to know which complexes need a parking permit pulled in advance, how to clear a Historic District stairwell without dinging the plaster, and which beach buildings have a service-entrance window that closes at 5 PM. Two movers, two hours, $199 covers most one-bedroom moves.

Local movers
Short hops across town, billed by the hour, small jobs welcome. Moving from Forest Hills to Pine Valley, Carolina Place to Echo Farms, or just two streets over in Sunset Park: same crew, same rate. $50 per mover per hour, $199 books two movers for two hours, most local moves wrap in one shift.

Last minute movers
Lease ended early, closing moved up, helper bailed. Book us today, we move you tomorrow. Same-day and next-day Wilmington crews open for short-notice bookings, and most requests get a confirmed team within a few hours. Same hourly rate, no rush surcharge.

Wilmington moving tips
- Booking around UNCW move-in week? Lock it in three weeks out, minimum. The August fall arrival and the January spring shuffle empty out off-campus housing along Randall Parkway and the Eastwood corridor in the same window, and the entire weekend grid tilts for about a month.
- Wrightsville Beach Saturdays in summer are a different planet. The drawbridge backs up by mid-morning, parking near the oceanfront fills before noon, and a one-truck job can lose an hour just getting on the island. May through September, push beach moves to a weekday or get on the bridge before 9 AM.
- Hurricane season runs June through November, and Wilmington takes it seriously. If your move date sits inside a named-storm watch window, call early. We'd rather reschedule than send a crew out ahead of weather, and the days right after a clear forecast tend to fill fast as everyone reschedules into the same slot.
- Moving into the Historic District? The streets are narrow, the trees hang low, and most blocks won't take a 26-footer cleanly. A 15- or 20-foot truck handles 90% of downtown moves, and a quick pre-move drive-by saves you from finding out the hard way at 8 AM on moving day.

FAQ
Wilmington moving FAQs
Do I need to rent a moving truck?
Yes. We're labor-only, so the truck is yours. U-Haul, Penske, Budget, and PODS pickup locations are spread across the Wilmington area from Market Street and Castle Hayne in the north down through Monkey Junction and across the river in Leland. We meet you wherever the truck is.
How much do movers cost in Wilmington?
$50 per mover per hour, with a 2-hour minimum. The default 2-mover, 2-hour job runs $199. No stair fees, no fuel surcharge, no weekend premium.
Is there a minimum charge for your moving services?
Yes. The minimum is 2 movers for 2 hours, which is $199 in Wilmington. Most apartment-sized loads in the city (Downtown walk-ups, Mayfaire townhomes, Wrightsville condos, UNCW-area rentals) land at or near this baseline.
What areas of Wilmington do you serve?
We cover Wilmington and the surrounding Cape Fear region: Downtown and the Historic District, Sunset Park, Forest Hills, Carolina Place, Pine Valley, Echo Farms, Monkey Junction, Ogden, Mayfaire, Riverlights, the UNCW area, and the rest of New Hanover County. We also serve the surrounding suburbs and beach towns including Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, Leland, Castle Hayne, Hampstead, and Surf City. If you're not sure whether your address is in our service area, call us at (910) 769-8402
Do you serve Wrightsville Beach and Leland?
Yes. Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Leland are all part of our standard Wilmington service area, along with the rest of New Hanover and southern Brunswick counties. The county line doesn't change anything on our end: same hourly rate, same minimum, same booking flow. Wrightsville Beach in particular is a regular run from May through September when seasonal turnover peaks.
Can you help with a move in Downtown Wilmington or Mayfaire?
Yes. We handle Downtown Historic District walk-ups, Mayfaire townhomes and apartments, the loft conversions along the riverfront, and the mid-rise buildings around the Eastwood corridor regularly. We bring the muscle, dollies, and floor protection. When you book, just let us know about parking permits, narrow streets, or service-entrance hours so we can plan around your building's rules.
What kinds of moves do you handle in Wilmington?
Apartment moves (Downtown walk-ups, Mayfaire mid-rises, UNCW-area rentals, Wrightsville and Carolina Beach condos), townhome and single-family moves across Sunset Park, Pine Valley, Riverlights, and the surrounding suburbs, U-Haul and PODS loading help, in-home rearrangements, and labor-only assistance for any move where you've handled the truck and just need the muscle. If your move doesn't fit a standard category, call us and we'll talk through it.
How far in advance should I book a move in Wilmington?
Book as soon as you know your move date. Wilmington time slots fill quickly at the end of every month and during the local peak season (May through September, plus the August UNCW move-in rush along Randall Parkway and the Eastwood corridor). You can book online or call our team to lock in your preferred date and time. Details can always be adjusted later.
Can you help with same-day or last-minute moves in Wilmington?
Sometimes, depending on availability. Our Wilmington schedule fills quickly during summer and the UNCW windows, so same-day is not guaranteed, but it's worth calling (910) 769-8402. Even within 24 to 48 hours we can usually find a slot, especially mid-month and outside peak season.
What if I don't know how long to book?
No worries! Our dedicated support team is here to help. Call us at (910) 769-8402 or email support@getmovingmuscle.com, and we’ll guide you through the process.
